ABOUT GRECIA

The town was settled by people from Alajuela, San Jose and Heredia. The church is a tourist attraction and was constucted of iron imported from Belgium in 1897, and the alter is made of solid marble. The land is drained by the Sarchi, Agualote, Poro and Rosales Rivers which descend from the Poas Volcano.

The canton grows coffee, corn, beans and vegetables, but it was the sugarcane that contributed most to the region's prosperity.

Places of Interest
Grecia is 18km from Alajuela and is connected to it and the cantons of San Ramon, Naranjo, and Atenas by good paved roads. The Juan Castro Blanco Forest Preserve can be found there.

Climate
The climate is always pleasant and with average temperatures of 24 degrees celsius.
